Translation
Treats a long uvula hanging down and obstructing the throat. Salt flower and calcined alum, powdered; dip the end of a chopstick in the medicine and smear it on, and it mends. — Boncho 本草 (Donguibogam · Inhu)
Clinical commentary 臨床
懸雍垂 — the hanging uvula, which 5.10 says lengthens when heat swells it so that it touches the tongue and makes the patient retch. Salt and alum are both strongly hygroscopic, and drawing water out of a swollen uvula is exactly what would shorten it. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
