Clinical commentary 臨床

The chapter's workhorse, and structurally the clearest formula in it: Pyeongwi-san to dry the stomach's damp laid over Oryeong-san to move the water out through the urine, with peony added for the cramping pain. That combination is the standard answer to a damp diarrhoea in the whole East Asian tradition, and the reasoning behind it is sound even in modern terms — fluid that is leaving by the bowel is redirected to the kidney, and the gut is given antispasmodic cover while the transit slows. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
