治五種蠱毒. 雄黃ㆍ麝香等分, 爲末. 取生羊肺如指大, 以刀開, 裹藥呑之. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats the five kinds of worm toxin. Realgar and musk in equal parts, powdered. Take a piece of raw sheep's lung the size of a finger, open it with a knife, wrap the medicine in it and swallow it. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Haedok)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two drugs wrapped in raw lung and swallowed whole. The lung is a delivery device: it carries a bitter, acrid powder past the mouth without tasting it, and the chapter elsewhere uses a fig, a ball of rice or honey water for the same purpose. 五種蠱毒, the five kinds of worm toxin, is the 病源's classification quoted earlier in this chapter — snake, lizard, toad and dung-beetle 蠱 told apart by the colour of the patient's face. Realgar is the chapter's standard answer to all of them, and it is an arsenic ore. **Contains realgar, an arsenic sulfide, and musk from a CITES-protected animal.
