Translation

Treats a child's crossed eye. Rhinoceros horn shavings 2 don; bezoar 1 don; gold leaf and silver leaf five leaves each; licorice 2 don 5 pun. Powder them, make honey pills the size of mung beans, and swallow seven at a time with mint decoction. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Bezoar, horn and the two metal leaves — the fright-settling group, given here because a child's eye turning in was read as heat and fright reaching the liver. A convergent squint in a child is refractive or neurological and this would not have moved it, but the formula is worth noting as the chapter's only paediatric prescription of this kind. **Rhinoceros horn comes from a CITES-listed species and cannot lawfully be traded; water buffalo horn is used in its place.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
