Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治肝火盛脇痛. 當歸ㆍ草龍膽ㆍ梔子ㆍ黃連ㆍ川芎ㆍ大黃 各五錢, 蘆薈 三錢, 木香 一錢. 右爲末, 入麝香少許, 粥丸菉豆大, 薑湯下五七十丸. 仍以琥珀膏貼痛處. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats liver fire exuberant with flank pain. Angelica, gentian, gardenia, coptis, chuanxiong and rhubarb 5 don each; aloe 3 don; costus 1 don. Powder them, add a little musk, bind with congee into pills the size of a mung bean, and take fifty to seventy with ginger decoction; and stick Amber Paste on the painful place. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Hyeop)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Danggwiyonghoe-hwan reduced — the Liver chapter's strongest purge, kept but made smaller, with chuanxiong added to move the blood in the flank.
