Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治水腫膨脹. 蒼朮ㆍ白朮ㆍ厚朴ㆍ赤茯苓ㆍ猪苓ㆍ澤瀉ㆍ縮砂ㆍ香附子ㆍ枳殼ㆍ陳皮ㆍ大腹皮ㆍ木香<span class='sochu'>另磨水取汁</span> 各七分. 右剉, 作一貼, 入燈心一塊煎去滓, 調木香水, 服之. 《回春》

Translation

Treats water swelling with swelling distension. Atractylodes lancea, white atractylodes, magnolia bark, red poria, polyporus, alisma, amomum, cyperus, bitter orange, tangerine peel, areca husk and costus <span class='sochu'>ground separately in water and the juice taken</span> 7 pun each. Cut up, make one packet, add one piece of juncus, decoct and strain out the dregs, stir in the costus water and take. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Bujong)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Twelve medicinals all at 7 pun, with costus ground in water and stirred in unheated so its volatile fraction survives. Compared with Silbi-san at 2.5.7 — which shares the name but carries aconite, dry ginger and blast-fried preparations — this is the version without warming: for swelling with distension in a patient who is not cold. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
