Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治産後熱入血室, 寒熱, 譫妄如見鬼. 柴胡ㆍ生地黃各二錢, 人參ㆍ半夏ㆍ黃芩各一錢, 甘草五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 入薑三棗二, 水煎服. 《得效》

Translation

Treats postpartum heat entering the chamber of Blood, with chills and fever and delirious speech as though seeing ghosts. Bupleurum and raw rehmannia, 2 don each; ginseng, pinellia, and scutellaria, 1 don each; licorice 5 fun. Cut the above, make one packet, add 3 slices of ginger and 2 jujubes, decoct in water and take. — Deukhyo 得效 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Minor Bupleurum with raw rehmannia set beside the bupleurum at equal weight, which is the whole adaptation: the hinge is coursed as usual, but the Blood chamber is cooled at the same time. Simpler than Sihosamul-tang for the same indication, and the two together show how the tradition adjusted one frame by degrees rather than reaching for a different formula. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
