Translation

Treats yin-toxin breaking out as yin macules. Cimicifuga 2 don; Korean angelica and licorice 1 don 2 pun each; roasted turtle shell 1 don; powdered realgar 4 pun; twenty Sichuan pepper grains. Cut up as one packet and decoct in water. — Uihak Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Pi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A Jingui formula, and the pepper and realgar are what make it a yin-toxin formula rather than a yang one — the Jingui pair runs with pepper and realgar for the yin and without them for the yang. Cimicifuga still leads, because whatever the pattern the rash has to come out. **Contains realgar, an arsenic sulphide, taken internally. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
