Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治內傷外感爲陰證發癍. 蒼朮 一錢半, 陳皮 一錢, 縮砂ㆍ藿香ㆍ白芍藥ㆍ桔梗ㆍ半夏ㆍ白芷ㆍ羌活ㆍ枳殼ㆍ甘草 各七分, 川芎 五分, 麻黃ㆍ桂枝 各三分. 右剉作一貼, 薑三片, 水煎服. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats a yin-pattern macular eruption arising from internal damage with external contraction. Atractylodes lancea 1 don 5 pun; tangerine peel 1 don; amomum, agastache, white peony, platycodon, pinellia, angelica dahurica, notopterygium, bitter orange and licorice 7 pun each; chuanxiong 5 pun; ephedra and cinnamon twig 3 pun each. Cut up as one packet with 3 slices of ginger and decoct in water. — Danggye Simbeop 丹心 (Donguibegam · Pi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The answer to the chapter's sharpest warning. A yin macular eruption is sparse, faintly red, on the chest and limbs, and looks like flea bites rather than brocade — and the Hwarinseo says that to read it as heat and give cooling medicines is a grave mistake. So this is a warming, aromatic, surface-opening formula given for a rash, with ephedra and cinnamon twig in tiny weights at the end of it. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
