Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治血鬱, 胃脘有瘀血作痛. (生)桃仁七箇, 連皮細嚼, 以生韭汁一盞, 送下卽效. 《回春》

Translation

Treats blood depression, with static blood in the stomach duct causing pain. Seven raw peach kernels, chewed fine with the skin on, sent down with one jan of fresh chive juice — the effect is immediate.

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two ingredients and no decoction. Peach kernels chewed raw with the skin on, washed down with fresh chive juice — the whole preparation takes as long as it takes to eat. Chive juice appears in the modifications to Yukul-tang at 1.5.1 as the addition for blood depression, and this is that addition standing on its own. Fresh chive is warm and acrid and moves static blood, and taking it uncooked preserves what heat would drive off. **Peach kernel contains amygdalin, which yields cyanide on hydrolysis, and raw unprocessed kernels carry a real toxicity risk.
