治血鬱. 香附子 八兩, 以童便浸曬乾爲末, 以粟米糊和丸服. 《綱目》

Translation

Treats blood depression. Cyperus 8 nyang, steeped in child's urine and sun-dried, then powdered; make pills with millet paste and take. — Uihak Gangmok 綱目 (Donguibogam · Jeokchwi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A single medicinal for blood depression, and the medicinal is a qi mover. That is the section's logic taken to its conclusion: blood does not stagnate on its own, and moving the qi that holds it is enough. Steeping in child's urine directs cyperus downward and into the blood aspect, which is what turns a qi formula into a blood one without changing the ingredient. Millet paste as the binder is a mild, spleen-friendly base. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
