Clinical commentary 臨床

Two ingredients, one of them a grain, and the whole prescription is a thin millet broth drunk clear. 水腫喘急, water swelling with hurried panting, is the presentation that matters most in the Oedema chapter and the one that still does: swollen legs with breathlessness is heart failure until proved otherwise, and it needs a diagnosis rather than a diuretic broth. Mulberry root bark is the corpus's lung-draining diuretic and is named in the chapter's own tally line as one of the three formulas its simples contain. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
