Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治室女經候不調, 腹痛. 橘紅二兩, 玄胡索(醋製)ㆍ當歸(酒炒) 各一兩. 右爲末, 酒糊和丸梧子大, 艾醋湯下百丸. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats an unmarried young woman whose cycle is unregulated, with abdominal pain. Red tangerine peel 2 nyang; vinegar-processed corydalis and wine-fried Korean angelica, 1 nyang each. Powder the above and bind with a wine paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; take 100 pills with a mugwort-and-vinegar decoction. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Po)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Three herbs for the young patient whose periods have never settled and hurt — red tangerine peel at double dose to move the Qi, corydalis for the pain, angelica for the Blood, and the whole taken down in mugwort and vinegar. That the chapter gives adolescent dysmenorrhea its own small formula, rather than folding it into the adult ones, is a reasonable piece of clinical sorting. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
