Translation
Treats long-standing phlegm cough, and is extremely effective. Processed pinellia, 2 nyang; arisaema roasted in the ashes, 1 nyang; raw licorice, half a nyang. Powder the pinellia and arisaema, mix them evenly with ginger juice, and cover them to ferment into a leaven — ten days in winter, five in summer, seven in spring and autumn. Take it out, powder it again, mix in the licorice powder, and work it with a bowl of bamboo sap into little cakes; bake them dry, soak them again with bamboo sap and bake them dry, and so on a dozen times, until the bamboo sap is used up. Grind it to a powder again and work it with refined honey to the consistency of malt sugar. At bedtime take a spoonful into the mouth and let it dissolve there, then rinse the mouth with bamboo sap and swallow. — Uihak Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Haesu)
