Translation

Supplements blood vacuity. Asparagus, cooked rehmannia and ginseng in equal parts. Powder them, make honey pills the size of a firmiana seed, and take a hundred at a dose, sent down with wine or water as preferred. — Uihak Gangmok 綱目 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

三才, the three powers, are heaven, earth and man — asparagus for heaven, rehmannia for earth, ginseng for man. The names are the whole formula, and it is the chapter's standing prescription for the depletion that follows blood loss. Three ingredients to build blood, and none of them moves it. That restraint is what separates this section from the ones that follow: after 亡血, the loss, the treatment is only to replace. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
