Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治水腫, 喘急, 大小便不利. 郁李仁ㆍ杏仁ㆍ薏苡仁 各一兩. 右爲末, 糊丸梧子大. 米飮下四五十丸. 《得效》
Translation
Treats water swelling with hasty panting and stool and urine both inhibited. Bush cherry kernel, apricot kernel and coix seed 1 nyang each. Powder them and make paste pills the size of a firmiana seed; take forty or fifty down with rice broth. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Bujong)
Clinical commentary 臨床
Three kernels, equal weight, nothing else — the simplest formula in the chapter and the one with no toxic medicinal in it at all. Each kernel takes a different route: apricot kernel downbears the lung and calms panting, bush cherry kernel moistens and opens the stool, coix seed percolates damp out through the urine.
