Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治氣壅大便秘. 麻子仁ㆍ大黃各三兩, 當歸身一兩, 人參七錢半. 右爲末, 蜜丸梧子大, 空心, 熟水下三十丸. 《入門》

Translation

Treats qi congested with the stool bound. Hemp seed and rhubarb, 3 nyang each; tangkuei body, 1 nyang; ginseng, 7 don 5 fun. Powder, make honey pills the size of a paulownia seed, and take thirty on an empty stomach in boiled water. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Rhubarb and hemp seed in equal and large amounts with ginseng behind them, which is the right construction for the only case where a purgative is safe in a weak patient: give the purge and support the qi at the same time.
