Translation

Treats black flowers and flying midges seen before the eyes, or an obstructing screen breeding. Buddleia flower, inula flower, chrysanthemum flower, cassia seed, lycium fruit, cuscuta (wine-processed), burdock seed, broomcorn seed, abalone shell (calcined) and licorice in equal parts. Pound and powder them, make honey pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take fifty after food with an ophiopogon decoction. — Uirim 醫林 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Named by its count — three flowers and five seeds — and that is the formula's whole architecture. Flying midges before the eye is as good a description of vitreous floaters as has been written, and the Uirim treats them as something to be dissolved from within rather than cleared from the surface. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
