Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治眼見五色花. 細辛ㆍ五味子各二兩半, 人參ㆍ䓀莄ㆍ黃芩ㆍ熟地黃ㆍ防風ㆍ知母ㆍ茺蔚子ㆍ車前子各二兩, 玄參五錢. 右爲末, 蜜丸梧子大, 空心茶淸下三五十丸. 《入門》

Translation

Treats five-coloured flowers seen before the eyes. Asarum and schisandra 2 nyang 5 don each; ginseng, platycodon, scutellaria, prepared rehmannia, saposhnikovia, anemarrhena, leonurus seed and plantago seed 2 nyang each; scrophularia 5 don. Powder them, make honey pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take thirty to fifty on an empty stomach with clear tea. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Asarum and schisandra at the head, which is unusual — a penetrating drug and an astringent one together, for coloured haloes round a light. That symptom in a patient with a dimming eye points to corneal oedema or early glaucoma, and the Immun reads it as the pupil's own light scattering. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
