Clinical commentary 臨床

The eight-substance decoction with tangerine peel, and the only formula in the lockjaw section that supplements rather than attacks. Yin tetany — rigidity in a cold, depleted patient without fever — is the indication, and for that the right treatment is indeed to fill rather than to disperse. Its presence here is the section's acknowledgement that not every rigid patient has wind toxin, and that some are simply exhausted. The safest formula of the group by a wide margin. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
