Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治夜間發熱. 生地黃(酒洗)ㆍ柴胡各一錢, 熟地黃ㆍ蒲黃ㆍ丹參ㆍ當歸(酒洗)ㆍ防己(酒洗)ㆍ羌活ㆍ甘草(灸) 各七分, 桃仁(泥) 三分. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎服. 《東垣》

Translation

Treats fever arising at night. Fresh rehmannia (wine-washed) and bupleurum 1 don each; cooked rehmannia, cattail pollen, salvia, angelica (wine-washed), stephania (wine-washed), notopterygium and licorice (mix-fried) 7 pun each; peach kernel (ground to a paste) 3 pun. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take. — Dongwon 東垣 (Donguibogam · Hwa)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Fever at night rather than by day is treated in the blood aspect, and the section it belongs to states the reason: heat breaking out after dark means the evil has sunk deep and is to be read as heat entering the blood chamber. Three of the ten medicinals are wine-washed, which carries them to the blood; cattail pollen, salvia and peach kernel move it.
