Translation

Treats intestinal wind, visceral toxin, fistulous piles and prolapse of the rectum. Loofah root gathered after it has been frosted once or twice, washed clean, left in the dew ten nights or more and hung in a windy place to dry in the shade; take 3 don a dose, cut up, decoct in water until done, strain, drip in sesame oil the size of a coin and take warm on an empty stomach. Avoid chicken, pork and distilled spirits. One dose answers. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Hueum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

經霜一二次收採 — gathered after it has been frosted once or twice. The chapter is particular about when a root is dug, and frost after the first hard freeze is held to concentrate what is in it. The oil at the end is there to ease the stool, which is half the treatment in this chapter. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
