Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治爛弦赤腫流淚. 楓葉 多取, 濃煎汁, 去滓熬成膏, 取以點眼. 又楓葉細切, 和燒酒蒸, 絞取汁點眼亦效. 《俗方》

Translation

Treats rotten rims red and swollen with running tears. Take a good quantity of sweetgum leaves, decoct them strongly, strain off the dregs, and boil the liquor down to a paste to dot on the eye. Or cut the leaves fine, steam them with distilled spirit, press out the juice and dot that on, which is also effective. — Sokbang 俗方 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

One leaf, two methods, and a Korean domestic remedy rather than a Chinese formula — which is what the Sokbang citation marks. Of the twenty preparations in this section it is the only one with nothing mineral or animal in it, and the only one a person could make today. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
