한글 올눌보천환 · Pinyin Wa Na Bu Tian Wan

膃肭補天丸

The Wikisource transcription corrupts both graphs of 膃肭 throughout this entry, writing them as 段婰; the reading is fixed by the ingredient 段婰臍, which is 膃肭臍, and by the wine made with it.

Clinical commentary 臨床

Twenty-one medicinals, the largest formula in the chapter and the only one here that treats impotence as a whole-body vacuity: Sagunja-tang and Samul-tang both sit inside it, with eucommia, psoralea and achyranthes added below and aquilaria and saussurea to keep so large a tonic moving. The seal genitalia names it and flavours even the pill paste, but by weight it is a small part of what is actually given. **Fur-seal genitalia comes from a CITES-listed species and cannot lawfully be traded; deer antler gelatin or a plant-based yang tonic is used in its place.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
