Translation

Treats wind cold mounting qi entering the abdomen with stabbing pain, the genitals retracted and the hands and feet cold in reversal. One large aconite main root boiled in a jan of honey down to half and then cut fine; cinnamon and white peony 3 don 3 pun each; licorice 2 don 5 pun. Cut up and divide into two packets, adding 3 slices of ginger, 2 jujubes and half a hop of the honey it was boiled in, and decoct together. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The aconite is boiled in honey and the honey then goes into the decoction. Prolonged boiling hydrolyses the aconitine and honey is held to blunt what remains — a real reduction in toxicity, and the reason this preparation is specified so exactly. **Contains aconite main root, which is toxic.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
