Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治乳汁壅塞不行, 乳內脹痛, 欲作癰腫, 服此自消. 漏蘆二錢半, 蛇蛻一條(燒), 瓜蔞一箇. 右爲末, 酒調二錢服, 無時, 仍食熱羹湯助之. 若乳多急痛, 以溫帛熨之. 《良方》

Translation

Treats milk congested and blocked so that it does not flow, with distending pain within the breast threatening to become an abscess; taking this, it disperses of itself. Rhaponticum 2 don 5 pun; one snake slough, burnt; one trichosanthes. Powder them and take 2 don stirred into wine at any hour, following it with hot broth to help it. If the milk is copious and the pain urgent, iron the breast with a warm cloth. — Yangbang 良方 (Donguibogam · Yu)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Rhaponticum is the tradition's specific for milk that will not come, and the warm cloth is the part still used: heat and pressure on an engorged breast before feeding. 欲作癰腫 — threatening to become an abscess — is the stage the chapter wants caught. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
