Translation

Treats heat in the kidney channel surging up to the ear, making the fluids congeal into thick pus or a clear discharge; there are also cases from water getting in while bathing and standing there to make pus, but without pain; and if it is not cured it turns to pus. Calcined alum and dragon bone 3 don each; red lead 2 don; dried rouge 1 don; a little musk. Powder them; first clear away the pus and water, then blow the medicine in. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · I)

Clinical commentary 臨床

但不疼 — but without pain. A painless discharging ear after water has got in, distinguished from the painful one, and the warning is that the painless kind turns to pus if left. **Contains red lead, which is toxic; musk is CITES-listed.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
