Translation

Treats distension and fullness. Radish seed (stir-fried) 2 nyang; tangerine peel, areca seed, bitter orange, mulberry root bark, perilla seed (stir-fried) and cyperus 1 nyang each; areca 5 don; costus 2.5 don. Powder them, make pills with wheat paste the size of a firmiana seed, and take fifty to seventy down with a decoction of ginger or of jujube. — Yuchwi 類聚 (Donguibogam · Changman)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Radish seed at two nyang leading, with perilla seed and mulberry root bark behind it — three medicinals that downbear the lung qi in a formula for the abdomen. The reasoning is the one the Oedema chapter states at 2.1.5: the root of water is in the kidney and the tip in the lung, and what will not descend above cannot pass below. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
