Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

破一切積, 散一切氣, 氣蠱, 血塊, 癥瘕, 積聚, 食積, 肉積, 酒積, 鼓脹, 浮腫, 痰癖等證. 䃃砂(水飛)ㆍ阿魏(醋硏)ㆍ大黃ㆍ吳茱萸ㆍ靑礞石與焰硝(同煆)ㆍ肉桂ㆍ木香ㆍ靑皮ㆍ玄胡索ㆍ五靈脂ㆍ茴香(炒)ㆍ穿山甲ㆍ蛤粉(炒)ㆍ乳香ㆍ沒藥ㆍ當歸ㆍ菖蒲ㆍ皂角ㆍ乾漆(炒)ㆍ檳榔ㆍ陳皮ㆍ枳殼ㆍ三稜ㆍ蓬朮(幷醋煨)ㆍ丁香ㆍ良薑(炒)ㆍ甘遂ㆍ芫花ㆍ大戟ㆍ雄黃 各二錢半, 巴豆霜 一錢半. 右爲末, 醋糊和丸梧子大. 薑湯下三五十丸. 《類聚》

Translation

Breaks all accumulation and scatters all qi: qi gu, blood lumps, concretion and aggregation, accumulation and gathering, food accumulation, meat accumulation, alcohol accumulation, drum distension, swelling, phlegm aggregation and the like. Sal ammoniac (water-levigated), asafoetida (vinegar-ground), rhubarb, evodia, chlorite schist calcined together with niter, cinnamon bark, costus, green tangerine peel, corydalis, flying squirrel faeces, fennel (stir-fried), pangolin scale, clam shell powder (stir-fried), frankincense, myrrh, angelica, acorus, gleditsia pod, dried lacquer (stir-fried), areca, tangerine peel, bitter orange, sparganium and curcuma (both vinegar-roasted), clove, lesser galangal (stir-fried), kansui, genkwa, euphorbia and realgar 2.5 don each; croton frost 1.5 don. Powder them, make pills with vinegar paste the size of a firmiana seed, and take thirty to fifty down with ginger decoction. — Yuchwi 類聚 (Donguibogam · Jeokchwi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Thirty-one medicinals at an identical 2.5 don, which is what a formula looks like when it is assembled by category rather than designed: every family of accumulation medicinal in the chapter is represented once. The three drastic purgatives of Sipjo-tang appear together with realgar and croton frost, and the dose is nonetheless thirty to fifty pills. **Contains kansui, genkwa, euphorbia, croton frost, sal ammoniac and realgar.
