A different formula from the 麻黃散 of the Wind chapter, which is the Uibang Yuchwi's ephedra, notopterygium, astragalus and asarum powder for joint-running wind pain. The transcription writes 欵 for 款 in 欵冬花 and 訶子皮, the peel of the chebule, where most citations have 訶子.

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治傷風喘急, 痰壅, 涕唾稠粘. 麻黃二錢, 桂皮一錢二分, 欵冬花ㆍ訶子皮ㆍ甘草各一錢, 杏仁六分. 右剉, 作一貼, 入細茶一錢, 水煎服. 《得效》

Translation

Treats wind damage with hurried panting, phlegm congestion, and thick sticky snivel and spittle. Ephedra, 2 don; cinnamon bark, 1 don 2 fun; coltsfoot flower, the peel of chebule and licorice, 1 don each; apricot kernel, 6 fun. Cut up, make one packet, add 1 don of fine tea, and decoct in water. — Sejong Jeungbo Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Haesu)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Ephedra and cinnamon bark to open the exterior, coltsfoot and apricot kernel to bring the lung qi down, chebule peel to hold what the two dispersers would otherwise scatter. The tea added at the end is the unusual member: it is bitter and cooling, and it keeps a formula this warm from overheating a patient whose sputum has already thickened. **Contains ephedra, a sympathomimetic that raises blood pressure and heart rate and interacts with many drugs.
