Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治子嗽, 氣壅喘急. 陳皮ㆍ大腹皮ㆍ桑白皮ㆍ紫蘇葉各一錢二分, 馬兜鈴ㆍ桔梗ㆍ人參ㆍ貝母ㆍ五味子ㆍ甘草各七分半. 右剉, 作一貼, 入薑三片, 水煎服. 《良方》

Translation

Treats child cough with the Qi dammed and the breath hurried. Tangerine peel, areca husk, mulberry root bark, and perilla leaf, 1 don 2 fun each; birthwort, platycodon, ginseng, fritillaria, schisandra, and licorice, 7.5 fun each. Cut the above, make one packet, add 3 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Yangbang 良方 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The peels do the work here — tangerine, areca husk, and mulberry root bark opening a chest that a growing pregnancy has already crowded, with perilla leaf to free the Qi above. Its title herb is the one no one may use: birthwort was a standard lung medicinal for centuries before aristolochic acid was identified as a cause of kidney failure and urothelial cancer.
