Translation

Treats the several kinds of diarrhoea. White atractylodes, 2 don; white poria and stir-fried white peony, 1.5 don each; tangerine peel, 1 don; roasted licorice, 5 fun. Cut up, make one packet and decoct in water. This is Sambaek-tang with the one drug tangerine peel added. Also called Chulryeong-jakyak-tang. — Pilyong Bang 必用 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The same three whites with tangerine peel added and the atractylodes raised, which turns a plain damp-draining formula into one that also moves qi. The Bogam's note that it is simply Sambaek-tang plus one drug is characteristic of this chapter's method — it builds the diarrhoea formulas as a visible family, so that a reader can see what each addition is for rather than memorizing a separate prescription. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
