Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

經補. 受補者, 服七日卽交合, 孕後勿服. 香附子ㆍ白薇ㆍ半夏ㆍ白茯苓ㆍ杜沖ㆍ厚朴 各二兩, 當歸ㆍ秦芃ㆍ防風ㆍ肉桂ㆍ乾薑ㆍ牛膝ㆍ沙參 各一兩半, 細辛ㆍ人參 各二錢三分. 右爲末, 煉蜜和丸. 《入門》

Translation

It supplements by way of the menses. One who receives the supplementation takes it for seven days and then couples; once pregnant, do not take it further. Cyperus, cynanchum atratum, pinellia, white poria, eucommia, and magnolia bark, 2 nyang each; Korean angelica, gentiana macrophylla, saposhnikovia, cinnamon bark, dried ginger, achyranthes, and adenophora, 1.5 nyang each; asarum and ginseng, 2 don 3 fun each. Clinical commentary 臨床

Named from the Book of Songs, whose locust-swarm ode became the classical figure for abundant offspring — a name that tells you the formulary's hope before the herb list tells you its method. And the method is warming and unblocking rather than supplementing: cinnamon, ginger, and asarum against cold, pinellia and magnolia against phlegm damp, cyperus leading.
