Translation

Treats a man's liver qi insufficient with pain in both flanks. Immature bitter orange 1 nyang; white peony (stir-fried), sparrow-brain chuanxiong and ginseng 5 don each. Powder finely and take 2 don at a time stirred into ginger and jujube decoction, or wine. — Bonsa 本事 (Donguibogam · Hyeop)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The counterpart to the draining formulas: a flank pain in a weak patient with a thin stringy pulse, treated with ginseng and peony alongside the bitter orange. 16.11's rule is that the same pain in a strong and a weak body is not the same disease. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
