Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治痔漏成塊下墜, 不任其痒. 羌活一錢五分, 秦艽ㆍ黃芪各一錢, 防風七分, 升麻ㆍ麻黃ㆍ柴胡ㆍ甘草(灸) 各五分, 藁本三分, 細辛ㆍ紅花各二分. 右剉, 作一貼, 空心水煎服. 《東垣》

Translation

Treats fistulous piles grown into a lump and bearing down, with an itch past bearing. Notopterygium 1 don 5 pun; gentiana macrophylla and astragalus 1 don each; saposhnikovia 7 pun; cimicifuga, ephedra, bupleurum and licorice (mix-fried) 5 pun each; ligusticum 3 pun; asarum and safflower 2 pun each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take on an empty stomach. — Dongwon 東垣 (Donguibogam · Hueum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

秦艽 is the chapter's own medicinal — Dongwon heads four formulas with it, and the character 艽 was read as 糾, to bind up, which is why the tradition sent it here. 不任其痒, an itch past bearing, is pruritus ani, and the formula treats it as wind. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
