Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治肛門痛不可忍. 脈訣曰, 積氣生於脾藏傍, 大腸疼痛陳難當, 此藥主之. 郁李仁泥一兩半, 羌活一兩, 大黃(煨) 八錢, 檳榔ㆍ桂心ㆍ木香ㆍ川芎各五錢. 右爲末, 蜜丸梧子大, 白湯下三五十丸. 微利卽愈, 切不可快利, 其痛滋甚. 《正傳》

Translation

Treats pain of the rectum past bearing. The Maekgyeol says: accumulated qi arises beside the spleen viscus and the pain of the large intestine is hard to bear — this medicine governs it. Bush-cherry seed paste 1 nyang 5 don; notopterygium 1 nyang; rhubarb (roasted) 8 don; areca, cinnamon heartwood, costus and chuanxiong 5 don each. Powder them, make honey pills the size of a firmiana seed, and take thirty to fifty with plain hot water. A slight freeing of the bowel heals it; on no account purge it briskly, for the pain will be far worse.

Clinical commentary 臨床

微利卽愈, 切不可快利 — a slight loosening heals it; on no account purge briskly. The chapter's best piece of restraint, and the reason is plain: a violent stool through an inflamed anus makes everything worse. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
