Translation

Treats the same as above. Ginseng, ophiopogon, red poria, platycodon, trichosanthes root, alisma, pueraria and licorice, 5 don each. Grind to a powder and give 2 don stirred into honey water. — Dangye Simbeop 丹心 (Donguibogam · Gwallan)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Eight drugs in equal weight, given as a powder in honey water — which is the point of it. A patient who cannot hold a decoction down may manage sips of sweetened water, and the powder carries ginseng and ophiopogon for what was lost and pueraria and trichosanthes root for the thirst itself. Honey water with a little salt would be closer to a modern rehydration solution; the chapter has the sweet half right. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
