Translation

Treats small-intestine heat, with a red face, much sweat and urine that does not pass freely. Akebia, red poria, areca, fresh rehmannia, scutellaria, red peony, ophiopogon and licorice 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, add 5 slices of fresh ginger and decoct together. — Piryong 必用 (Donguibogam · Sojang)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Dojeok-san's akebia and rehmannia with five more to cool and drain — the heart's heat sent down through its bowel to the urine, which is the Ojangyukbu chapter's 1.4 pairing worked as a formula. Areca is the one warm mover in it, to keep the cold drain from stalling. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
