Donguibogam
Translation
Whenever the weather is about to turn to rain the patient breaks out in wheezing panting, so severely that he can neither sit nor lie and takes no food or drink. This is cold phlegm accumulated in the orifices of the lung; taking advantage of the sky's overcast, the cold qi enters by the back, the mouth and the nose, and then the lung distends and makes a sound. Of this illness there are those who suffer it to the end of life, and there are those in whom it passes from mother to child. Give it at each attack, and in no more than seven or eight times the patient feels the phlegm come up rank and foul and white in colour, which is the cutting of its root. Raw arsenolite, 1 don; calcined alum, 3 don, ground separately; fermented soybeans, 1 nyang, soaked in water, skinned, steamed and ground to a paste. Mix the powders, roll them into pills the size of a mung bean, and give seven pills down with cold tea, or nine in a severe case; the cure is that there is no panting. There is no need to take much of it; taken over a long time it will certainly answer. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Haesu)
