Translation

Treats phlegm drool filling and brimming, with unceasing vomiting and an inhibited, sluggish stool. Cheongju White Pillthe formula is given in the Wind chapter and Costus Pillthe formula is given in the Qi chapter in equal parts, made into pills, thirty given down with ginger decoction. — Sejong Jeungbo Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Guto)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two finished pills ground together in equal parts — a compound of compounds, which the Bogam does occasionally and always for a case where two problems have to be met at once. Here they are phlegm and a closed bowel: the white pill is an arisaema and pinellia phlegm formula, the costus pill a seed-and-areca formula that moves downward. **The arisaema and pinellia of the base formula are toxic in the raw state and must be properly processed.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
