Clinical commentary 臨床

The parent of the two white pills that follow it in this section. The Wind chapter prints its indications and sends the reader to the Phlegm chapter for the composition, which is itself the argument: this is a phlegm formula borrowed for wind stroke, not a wind formula. Its indication list is the widest in the section — deviation, paralysis, all wind diseases, blood wind in women, fright wind in children — and that breadth is a sign of what it was: a household standby for anything with thick secretions and a sudden onset. **The modified form carries raw aconite, raw pinellia and raw arisaema, and the plain form is built on the same drugs.
