An augmentation of 靑州白元子, whose own composition the Bogam gives in the Phlegm chapter; that chapter is not yet transcribed on this site, so the name is left unlinked there. 白薑 is dried ginger, distinguished from 乾薑 in some materia medica by the peeling but treated as the same drug here. 並生 — all raw — applies to every drug in the formula.

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治中風壅塞ㆍ喎斜ㆍ癱瘓. 白附子ㆍ天南星ㆍ半夏ㆍ白薑各二兩, 天麻ㆍ全蝎ㆍ白殭蚕各一兩, 川烏五錢. 右並生爲細末, 薑汁麪糊和丸梧子大, 薑湯呑下五七十丸, 不拘時. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats wind stroke with congestion and blocking, deviation of the mouth and eye and paralysis. Typhonium, arisaema, pinellia and white ginger, 2 nyang each; gastrodia, whole scorpion and silkworm, 1 nyang each; aconite kusnezoffii, 5 don. All used raw and made into a fine powder, formed into pills the size of a paulownia seed with ginger juice and wheat-flour paste, and fifty to seventy swallowed with ginger decoction at any time. — Danggye Simbeop 丹心 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The base pellets with the internal-wind set grafted on: gastrodia, scorpion and silkworm, which is the combination that appears whenever the tradition wants to still a tremor or a twitch rather than merely move phlegm. Everything is raw, bound only with ginger juice and flour paste, and the ginger decoction vehicle carries the same corrective. Fifty to seventy pills at a dose of raw arisaema, raw pinellia and raw aconite is a large exposure, and the formula is listed here as a record rather than a prescription. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
