Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治呑酸. 半夏ㆍ黃連各一兩, 陳皮五錢, 桃仁二十箇, 吳茱萸一錢. 右爲末, 神麴糊和丸菉豆大, 薑湯下百丸. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats acid swallowing. Pinellia and coptis 1 nyang each; tangerine peel 5 don; peach kernel twenty; evodia 1 don. Powder them, make pills with medicated leaven paste the size of a mung bean, and take a hundred down with ginger decoction. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Naesang)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Jwageum-hwan's pairing of coptis with evodia, here at forty to one rather than the usual six to one — the coldest version of that couplet in the database. Evodia at a single don is present only to keep so much coptis from chilling the stomach, and to carry it to the liver.
