Translation

Treats one-sided vacuity of yin or yang with spontaneous or night sweating. Astragalus (honey-fried) 2 don 2 pun; dried fresh rehmannia, asparagus, white poria and ephedra root 1 don 5 pun each; angelica 1 don 2 pun; ophiopogon 1 don; schisandra, light wheat and licorice 7 pun each; saposhnikovia 5 pun. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Jinaek) Master Yan's Astragalus Decoction is the same, except that it lacks the one ingredient dragon bone and uses fresh rehmannia instead of cooked.

Clinical commentary 臨床

Astragalus to hold the surface, ephedra root and light wheat to stop the sweat, and the rehmannia-asparagus-ophiopogon line for the yin side — one formula for both 自汗 and 盜汗, which is what 陰陽偏虛, one-sided vacuity of either, means. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
