Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治室女月經不通, 或積瘀血, 腰腹疼痛. 赤芍藥二兩, 劉寄奴一兩二錢半, 紫葳ㆍ當歸尾ㆍ牛膝ㆍ蘇木ㆍ甘草各五錢, 白芷ㆍ桂心ㆍ紅花各三錢半. 右爲末, 酒調二錢服. 紅花酒下尤佳. 《雲岐》

Translation

Treats menses that do not pass in a maiden, or accumulated static blood with aching pain of the lumbus and abdomen. Red peony 2 nyang; anomalous mugwort 1 nyang 2 don 5 pun; trumpet creeper flower, angelica tails, achyranthes, sappan and licorice 5 don each; angelica dahurica, cinnamon heart and safflower 3 don 5 pun each. Powder them and take 2 don stirred into wine; taken down with safflower wine it is better still. — Ungi 雲岐 (Donguibogam · Po)

室女, a maiden, is the chapter's term for an unmarried woman who has not conceived, and this section treats primary amenorrhoea as its own category. The formula is unusually forceful for that — six blood-breakers with nothing that supplements. Anomalous mugwort and trumpet creeper flower are registered in this database from this entry.
