Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治霍亂吐瀉過多, 但一點胃氣存者, 服之回生. 藿香ㆍ陳皮 各五錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎, 溫服. 《入門》
Translation
Treats sudden turmoil with excessive vomiting and diarrhoea; where only a single point of stomach qi remains, taking this brings the patient back to life. Patchouli and tangerine peel, 5 don each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take warm. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Gwallan)
Clinical commentary 臨床
Two drugs, both aromatic, both aimed at the stomach, and nothing else. 但一點胃氣存者 — where only a single point of stomach qi remains — is the indication, and the formula's whole claim is that at that stage anything stronger would finish the patient. The chapter cites it again at 1.15 among the untreatable signs, for the case with great thirst, agitation, sweating and incontinence, which is the one place in the Bogam where a formula is offered after the prognosis has been given as death.
