Clinical commentary 臨床

Sayeok-tang with ginseng added, which is to say the classical rescue formula for yang collapse with the one drug that addresses the fluid loss behind it. 六脉沉伏 — all six pulses sunken and hidden — with cold limbs and a patient too weak to speak is the gravest state the chapter describes short of death. **Contains aconite, which is toxic, and must not be prepared. The state described — unrecordable pulse, cold extremities and obtundation after profuse vomiting and diarrhoea — is hypovolaemic shock and a medical emergency requiring immediate intravenous resuscitation.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
