Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治砂石淋. 琥珀ㆍ滑石各二錢, 木通ㆍ當歸ㆍ木香ㆍ鬱金ㆍ萹蓄各一錢. 右爲末, 每三錢, 以蘆葦葉煎湯, 空心調下. 無葦葉, 則代竹葉. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats sand and stone strangury. Amber and talc 2 don each; akebia, angelica, costus, curcuma and knotgrass 1 don each. Powder them and take 3 don at a time on an empty stomach, stirred into a decoction of reed leaf; if there is no reed leaf, bamboo leaf may be substituted. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Sobyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Amber for the pain, talc to slide, and curcuma and angelica to move the blood behind the stone. The substitution note — bamboo leaf for reed leaf — is the Bogam's practical habit, and it appears wherever a vehicle might not be to hand. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
