Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治痰熱塞咽喉, 聲如拽鋸, 及痰結胸膈滿痛. 明白礬 一兩, 心紅 五錢(或黃丹亦好). 右爲末, 每取一匙, 入磁器內熔化, 乘熱, 撚作丸櫻桃大, 每一丸, 以薄荷煎湯化下. 《入門》 直指方, 控痰良方. 白礬ㆍ黃丹 各一兩, 火煆爲末, 麪糊和丸麻子大. 治諸頑痰迷塞, 關竅不通, 聲音不出. 取三十丸, 硏末, 入全蝎少許, 薑湯調灌之, 吐痰立愈.
Translation
Treats phlegm heat stopping the throat with a sound in the breath like a saw being drawn, and bound phlegm with fullness and pain in the chest and diaphragm. Clear alum 1 nyang, vermilion 5 don — red lead also serves. Powder them, take a spoonful at a time into a porcelain vessel and melt it, and while hot roll pills the size of a cherry; dissolve one in a decoction of mint and take. The Jikji gives a good formula for controlling phlegm: alum and red lead 1 nyang each, calcined and powdered, made into pills with wheat paste the size of a hemp seed. It treats all stubborn phlegm blocking the orifices so that the passages are closed and the voice will not come. Take thirty pills, grind them, add a little scorpion, and pour it down mixed with ginger decoction; the phlegm is vomited and the cure is immediate. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Damum)
