Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治風寒濕在腦, 頭痛眩暈嘔吐. 川芎 三錢, 細辛ㆍ白朮 各一錢半, 甘草 一錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 入生薑 五片, 茶芽少許, 水煎服. 《濟生》

Translation

Treats wind, cold and damp in the brain with headache, dizziness and vomiting. Chuanxiong 3 don; asarum and white atractylodes 1 don 5 pun each; licorice 1 don. Cut up, make one packet, add 5 slices of fresh ginger and a little tea shoot, decoct in water and take. — Jesaeng 濟生 (Donguibogam · Du)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Chuanxiong at three don is the chapter's chief headache medicinal throughout, and 1.17 gives the reason: it reaches the vertex, which few medicinals do. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
